The University of Saskatchewan College of Dentistry invites applications for Part-Time Clinical Instructor positions in the Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene (BSDH) Program. Clinical instruction is primarily scheduled from September to April, and multiple positions may be available. Clinical Instructors are responsible for supervising and evaluating dental hygiene students in the clinical environment, supporting the development of safe, competent, and patient-centred clinical practice.
Responsibilities
• Supervise dental hygiene students during clinical patient care sessions.
• Provide instruction, coaching, and feedback on clinical procedures and patient management.
• Evaluate student performance and clinical competencies according to program standards.
• Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control protocols, clinic policies, and professional standards.
• Support students in the development of critical thinking, clinical decision-making, and professional behaviour.
• Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive clinical learning environment.
• Participate in instructor calibration sessions and faculty meetings as required.
Required Qualifications
• Current registration and licensure in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Saskatchewan.
• Authorization to administer local anesthetic.
• Minimum three years of recent clinical dental hygiene experience.
• Strong knowledge of SDHA Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics, and evidence-based dental hygiene practice.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and patients.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene (BSDH) or equivalent degree.
• Previous clinical teaching or student mentoring experience.
• Experience caring for older adults or patients with complex medical conditions.
• Experience using electronic dental records systems.
• Demonstrated commitment to student learning and clinical excellence.
